Get started

embral runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14.4 or later.

Install

Download the app from the homepage.

On Windows, run the installer. It installs for your user account only and never asks for administrator rights. SmartScreen sometimes warns on a new release. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Open the dmg on macOS and drag embral into Applications.

The app updates itself from here on.

Run the setup wizard

embral opens with a short wizard on first launch.

1. The models step asks for a language and an accuracy level, with the recommended choice for your machine already marked. Start the download.
2. Step through the remaining preferences: meetings, dictation, AI assistants, and Markdown export. You can change every choice later in Settings.

Downloads keep running while you move through the steps, and after you finish.

Record a test

1. Click Record at the top of the sidebar. The button stays unavailable until the transcription model finishes downloading.
2. Say a few sentences. They appear in the live transcript on the right. The pane on the left takes notes.
3. Click the stop button in the header.

The meeting lands in your list with the transcript ready. The summary and a title follow a moment later.
